This is NOT a paved official boat launch. I have seen people launch small boats here. Nothing massive. 14ft at best. Pulling out always looks "fun". It is a good place to launch by Canoe or Kayak in the spring. About the only stretch accessable on this side not privately owned.

Nice boat launch, to the right (down the river) it’s rocky and shallow but to the left it’s fairly deep after the point.

As you can see I was pretty excited to catch this little Ouananiche! I thought catching fish in the winter time out on Trout Lake in North Bay Ontario was impossible (due to my record)! But I was very excited when I felt a bite on the end of my line. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was a Ouananiche, a landlocked type of Atlantic Salmon. Ever since I have caught this fish, many people have been telling me that Ouananiche are very rare in this lake and that they had never seen one before. I did some research and learned that due to a stocking program from the MNR beginning in 1935, the Ouananiche population in Trout Lake became the only known self-perpetuating Atlantic Salmon population in Ontario. So it was pretty neat to learn that Ouananiche are surviving and reproducing in the lake i grew up on; Trout Lake!
