Information on Rainbow Trout

Rainbow Trout is a popular sportfish in most of North America with its native range spanning freshwater tributaries of the Pacific Ocean from North America to Asia. Rainbow Trout have been introduced and naturalized in the Great Lakes and stocked in many trout ponds across the the US and Canada. There are many sub-species of note including the Gerrard strain which can reach over 20lbs, and the anadromous (sea-run) steelhead, both are world class sport fish in western Canada.
