Information on Yellow Perch

Yellow Perch are a small pan fish abundant in most North American lakes where pike and walleye are present. They are easily identified by their gold/brass body with triangular olive stripes. Average size is 6-12 inches and they tend to live ~10 years in the wild. Although small and not considered a predator of note, if introduced, they can have a significant negative impact on trout populations. They are usually found in weedy shallows and when anglers get on top of a school of perch, they can expect to catch several of them. They are easily filleted and are a great choice for a big outdoor fish fry.
