Largemouth Bass

Micropterus salmoides

Information on Largemouth Bass

Largemouth bass are a medium size, thick bodied sportfish famous for it's top-water strikes and hard fight. They are often found in schools, feeding near the surface, in shallow, weedy areas. While it’s range is generally restricted to the central-eastern states and provinces of North America, they can be found in a few lakes in western Canada. An exciting means of targeting largemouth bass is to cast a top-water bait, such as a frog or mouse, into the lily pads and quickly retrieve. Being visual feeders, largemouths will strike fast and quick.
