Lodging and Camping

Located in a dry sunny area of the province, Kikomun Provincial Park preserves an example of Interior Douglas fir and Ponderosa pine forest and grassland habitat. Paved roads within this family oriented park are conducive to biking. This park offers various recreational opportunities for families and visitors to view the painted turtles species. Do not disturb, abuse, or remove turtles. There are also 2 large lakeside day-use areas. Park Size: 682 hectares

From the east, turn off Hwy 3, 3 km west of Hwy 3/93 junction at Elko, the park entrance is 8 km to the west. From the west, turn off Hwy 3 at Jaffray, the park is located 16 km south.

This site is set on a bench above a shelter and secluded bay on Lake Koocanusa. There are limited opportunities for boat launching here, depending on fluctuating water levels. The steep access is generally limited to car top boats. The site boasts both shaded and sunny sites as well as a horseshoe pit.

Located on the west side of Lake Koocanusa approximately 30 km south of the bailey bridge along the Newgate Road. Shortly before the paved road turns to gravel turn left (east) and follow a gravel road for approximately 500 m to the site. *Note: pass the Sunshine Houseboat operation to get to the site.
