About AZOUZETTA LAKE

Azouzetta Lake is deep and clear, supporting a good rainbow trout fishery. Set amid high mountains and deep forests, Azouzetta Lake is a treat to visit. There are some standard flies that can work at various times of year and in various conditions.

A Woolly Bugger is one such fly. Because it can imitate many different insects, many fly fishers carry several of these wet flies. Another good standard fly is a Doc Spratley. This is commonly known as an attractor pattern, because it is designed to attract the trout’s attention. If you are aiming to imitate a particular insect, cast your fly as the insect would move.

Angler’s Atlas members report that the trout in Azouzetta Lake can be fussy, and that they are fighters when hooked. When targeting rainbow trout, many different flies can work at any given time, though it is helpful to know if there is a hatch occurring or just past. Scope out the weedy areas and keep an eye out for insect casings, as well as birds. They can tell you where the active areas might be.

Warning Marker Added

Gets pretty shallow probably 6 feet so shouldn't be a problem for most but in later months like August and September could possibly be a problem

Playing hooky

Fished June 19th. Many small fish caught such as supercharger posted. Many different flies worked but a fast trolled big red woolly bugger produced the most, resulting in 4 double headers, though a slim pickens on a lead line deep produced 7 when trying to land a big one. Lake to myself all morning

Loading the boat..

This lake has spectacular scenery, and plenty of fish... depending on your choice of lure's and tactic's.

That's why they call it Fishin!!! and not Catchin!

I have made many trips to this lil paradise,as much for the scenery..as for the fishing. There are a variety of different tactic's that you need to have in your asenal of fishing tackle to keep up with these fiesty! yet fussy feeders...A 6 wt fly rod and reel combo with a sinking line is what i normally use, along with a large selection of sinking fly's including streamers.. spratly's and leach patterns.Spinners will also produce good action,, but i found that you must be willing to change up your lure selection at a moments notice.. TIGHT LINE'S !!!
