Rylan Schebesch contemplating the big one. Waiting for the bell to go off.

Slow day, didn't look like any fish bitting so walked across beach and all of a sudden the little bell rings and I'm off. Was just able to get to the rod before it was gone. Best fight I've ever had, took 30 min to land the fish.

My Grandson, Ade, and I were fishing for sockeye on the Skeena River near Hazelton BC in mid-August 2016. We weren't having too much luck but the couple downriver from us were slaying them. Ade walked down to 'flirt' with the lady (as the 6 year old is accustomed to doing) who was catching the salmon. Ade talked her into letting him pose with one of her sockeye.

Skeena River Report

Oscar's Source for Adventure in Smithers reports: July 7- Rain hit the system and muddied the waters heavily on Tuesday, but the river has cleared up a lot and is fishable and getting better. Fishing before the extra water was slow, so hopefully the cooler weather and increase of water will change that! A beauty 59lb Chinook was caught this past weekend on the lower Skeena, and some Sockeye are also starting to be caught. See more of their fishing reports at http://oscarssports.com/resources/fishing-report
