Catching sockeye salmon on Babine Lake near Smithers BC with grandchildren Ade and Maelle. The set-up is basically the same as fishing in the ocean— using a 12” flasher, 18” leader with red hook and bead and downriggers.

Ice fishing 25 km from Yellowknife on Great Slave Lake. Caught lots of whitefish, lake trout and burbot but the huge Inconnu or “Cony”, as they’re called, really made the day. Holding the fish is Diddier Bourgois of Yellowknife NT.

My grandson, Ade, is learning a lot about salmon fishing on the Bulkley River, in Smithers BC.

After a day of fishing, our entire fishing party were ready for a delicious camp meal with Northern Pike being the main ingredient. We had plenty to eat on this trip as we landed 24 and 32 lb Pkes.

My grandson, Mackenzie, was not sure what end to start the filleting of this huge Northern Pike that he'd caught a few minutes earlier. He was fishing from shore using a large "five of diamonds". He spent 20 minutes landing it, including being pulled off a ledge by the Pike, only to have his grandfather grab him by the seat of his pants.

My daughter, Wendy (the red head), her friend, Heidi, and I were canoeing on Walsh Lake, near Yellowknife NT. I challenged them by saying I'd give a 'loonie' to the first person who caught a fish. We were trolling near a weed bed when Wendy got a strike. And to their amazement, they actually landed a small Northern Pike.

My fishing buddy, Didier, and I along with two other friendsI were at a small lake (Island Lake) about 30 minutes by float plane northeast of Yellowknife NT. It was early June and the Northern Pike were spawning in a shallow end of the lake. A cast of merely anything in the tackle box resulted in a strike. This was the best catch of the day, however. It fed our party of four during the entire weekend.

My Grandson, Ade, and I were fishing for sockeye on the Skeena River near Hazelton BC in mid-August 2016. We weren't having too much luck but the couple downriver from us were slaying them. Ade walked down to 'flirt' with the lady (as the 6 year old is accustomed to doing) who was catching the salmon. Ade talked her into letting him pose with one of her sockeye.

My brother-in-law, Don, with a recent catch of coho on the Tseax River, north of Terrace BC.

Two brook trout caught on Ross Lake (near Hazelton BC) trolling a leech pattern. Water was 54 F and quite an algae bloom in the water..
