Don't forget the derby

The 27th annual Watch Lake/Green Lake Derby takes place June 7-8. Here's the low-down from www.cariboovacations.com: Fish can be caught at Watch Lake or Green Lake but must be weighed in at the main weigh station at Watch Lake Lodge. There are always lots of prizes for lots of different categories. Past years have seen more than 500 fish weighed in over the two days. Again this year there will be a $200 second-place prize and $500 for the biggest fish. There will also be lots of other prizes for random entry draws. Remember, though - you must be present at the awards ceremony to receive prizes. Each day starts out with a pancake breakfast from 7-10 a.m. There will also be a refreshment garden Saturday from 11-9 p.m. and Sunday from 11-4 p.m. There's a concession on site from 11 a.m. till 8 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday. Besides all the prizes and daytime fun, we are famous for our pig roast dinner on Saturday night. You might want to ask about tickets when you get your derby entry, as they go quickly!
