This photo was taken on day two of four this winter season spent on the river. I was desperately hoping to be so lucky to get a brief moment with an elusive steelhead. It was necessary to de-ice my eyelets every 5 casts or so as the temperature was well below freezing. Having historically just been a chironomid fisherman, river fishing as a whole is new to me so why not start with one of the toughest fisheries? I wasn't so lucky this year, but there is always next year and I have already come to appreciate that no days on the river are wasted.
