7 walleye not.bad for a.day fishing hecla Island,lake winnipeg

Having fished Lake Winnipeg every winter for the last 10 years and catchIng many walleye, my son Wade never caught that one lunker to earn him a Manitoba Provincial Master Angle award for Walleye. It finally happened on 28 March with this 29” Greenback.

It was one heck of a day on the ice. So, we got stucked a few times, shack had problems and some auger issues. Damn, we missed the morning bite, but waiting for that evening run really payed off a little. ❄

This one was a sexy black slough-shark with a peculiar patterns.

Went for a few hours to the big lake in need to get this itch out of my system and at the same time I just couldn't pass this beach weather today. We caught a few eaters and a skinny 23" greenback plus this nice slob perchy which I opt to post since it fought better than those walleyes. ❄

Had a little nice break from fishing and thought it was bout' time I get out there and freeze my ass off too 😊. Lake Winnipeg was rough today. Have to drill a million holes, drove around the lake for miles while dodging spikes and ice ridges. Well at least that damn cold snap had finally taken a break otherwise Ill be telling a different story. Anyway, found a spot with decent greenies and this Hogster-Walster showed up just before my day ended. And yes, my truck got stucked too in a snow bank on the way back to the harbour.
