Opening day my favourite fishing guide took me out to some of his favorite spots on Lake Talon. I casted out a silver and blue spoon I had painted and assembled myself. A solid strike and we were hooked up....after a gallant battle with many strong, strong head shaking runs my Son net this BEAUTY!! Yes, my son is my favourite fishing Guide.

Spring 2010

Well, finally the snow is gone and the grass is green. Looking forward to the first visit to the lake for tight lines this year. Hopefully the early spring weather and low water levels do not hinder the fishing. I guess I will not know until I get there..... Happy days and tight lines!!! Bentley

End of Summer 2009

Hmmmmm....Did summer really arrive this year? Regardless it has been a fantastic year for fishing. The best we caught this year was a 32" Northern pike, a number of 16" and 17" Largemouth, Smallies in the 14" to 16" range, elusive walleye and many of all the listed in smaller size range. It appears that the secret is finally out on the great fishing that our lake has as there have been a large increase in the number of boats fishing this year. It is no surprise as the lake has a very wide range of fish Bass, Walleye, Lake Trout, Perch, Rock Bass and Sunfish. My son even caught a Rock Bass that was about 14" long. Well hopefully we can get out for some fall fishing and build up out memories. Happy Fishing and tight lines, Ben

Summer 2009

Summer is back, I think. The weather has not been the warmest, but my eldest son is becoming an avid fisherman. When ever we can we head out and chase fish on our beloved lake. He loves to fish top water baits as the visual excitement of seeing the bass hit the lure really gets his heart pumping. Like most young people he is tends to be very impatient and needs to be moving all the time. It brings me great joy to be sharing this love of fishing, teaching him what I have learned and getting to spend quality time with him. We have been catching some really nice smallies, large mouth, the odd walleye and of course pike so far. This lake continues to be a sanctuary from the hectic everyday life and a relationship builder. Happy fishing!!!!! Ben

My Sanctuary

Since my early teenage years this Lake has been a source of entertainment, learning and best of all sanctuary from the hectic daily life of work, parenting and technology. The peace and calm that we as a Family experience when we arrive at the cottage is simply amazing. New experiences, challenges of chasing the many species of fish and best of all catching a few of the many fish swimming the lake. One fishing story sticks vividly in my memory, we were exploring one summer and decided to stop and have a little break. I thought what the heck drop a line in to pass the time. I had no sooner dropped a jig in the water and BOOM something hit the jig doubled over my rod and snap went the line....just like that. Needless to say I was in shock and elated all at the same time. A memory from my early teen years on the Lake and one I will never forget. Bentley
