Early morning provided a lot of smaller trout ( 7-10 inch range) in both rainbow and cutthroat. Middle of lake showed a lot of fish on sounder about 20-30 feet down. Water still fairly warm, should pick up with colder weather

I fished this lake near the out flow the other day and got into a bunch of 14 inche cutthroat, i recoomend fishing by millstone creek as the action was steady. Anyone who has not fished this lake yet there are some really big fish hidding in there and if you have a chance to go in the morning or evening all the better as it was 85 degrees out when i went out there and the action was staedy, boating traffic seemed to not bother the fish near the creek

Due to the presence of course fish in this lake fisheries biologists have stocked it with Blackwater River Rainbow, a strain selected as a result of them having developed a taste for course fish due to evolving with them in the Blackburn River in Northern BC's interior. This may bode well for the future if this proves to be a successful experiment to control the course fish that were competing for food with the regularly stocked strains of rainbow and Cutthroats that had been regularly stocked in this urban lake at Nanaimo's north end.
