The upper portion of the Bonnechere is a slough river in that it has no fast moving current accept where elevation changes rapidly. there is also a flood control dam on this section west of Bonnechere Provincial Park. except to find the deepest navigable parts of the river to be 10 to 20 feet on average, most of the wider portions have a basin at 50 feet. water temps here will increase rapidly making it a good spot to fish early before the ice comes off most lakes in the area. spring flooding should break up ice hear early. There are sections of the river including smaller lakes that will hold medium sized pike and LG bass, dont expect to find anything over 5ibs in the system unless its near deep cold water. the average sized pike should be 20 inches or greater. try using a variety of natural color presentations when the conditions are right.
