Mohun Lake

Site provides a good jump-off point to explore the many nooks and crannies of Mohun Lake. Check out the islands and sandy beaches. Smaller boats can pass through the narrows and into Mohun Lagoon. Site is part of the Sayward Forest Canoe Route chain of lakes. Includes the end of the 0.3 km portage trail from Lawier Lake to Mohun Lake.

From Campbell River, head north on Highway 19. Turn left onto Menzies Mainline, travel approx. 11 km turning right into the site just after Merrill Lake FSR. Watch for logging traffic on the mainline.

mohun lake drowning

I went into the west arm of Mohun lake and came across a bear swimming in circles i tried to steer it to shore but the bear would just circle around behind me, as i was in a inflatable boat did not want to get too close to it. eventually the poor bear tired out and drowned. no one i talked to about it had ever seen anything like it or why it would be doing that.. if anyone has heard about this before i would be interested in knowing why the bear would do this

Northern Tip of Mohun Island

I was fortunate to paddle the lake just before sunset in late September. Lots of fish rising especially between the Island and the Western shore just off the southern tip of the island.This picture it taken about half way down the western side of the island looking north.
