My first deep sea fishing excursion in the Gulf of Mexico. We headed out just before sunrise and were out all morning. By 11AM, we had yet to get a single bite, when the captain saw seaguls going crazy. We caught 9 makerel in less than 30 minutes! I thought giant pike fight like crazy, but it was nothing like these things! After reeling in 3 of them, I was exhausted!
Largest pickerel I've ever caught - just over 8 lbs. It was getting late and we've been trolling back and forth over this hole we found with lots of pickerel. My buddy said lets do one more pass. I thought I was snagged, so he was turning the boat around and he was staring at my rod. He said " I don't think that's a snag..." at which point my rod started jumping.
