I was having a slow day of fishing in the shallows of the Sabine River near Port Arthur, Texas and was daydreaming of catching a big one. It just wasn't happening...any wiggle on the other end of the line was rare that day. I was near to calling it quits for the day when WHAM! - my line was off and running. After about 30 minutes of battle and getting towed against the incoming tide, I had fears of not seeing or landing the big fish on the end of my line. Finally, with aching arms and fishermes' prayers, my wife was able to net the fish, but then couldn't lift it into the boat. With four aching arms and a cry of joy, the big red was finally lugged aboard our 14 foot jon boat!. The redfish was 42 inches long with a 36 inch girth and came in at about 60 pounds on the saltwater fishing charts. So after taking numerous pictures the red fish swam free and we headed home with big smiles only to find out it may have been a new Texas inland saltwater record. The replica should be delivered any day now. And our new and favorite fishing tale is of the one that DID NOT get away!
