It was a cool June day and we were just finishing up lunch in shore and contemplating hitting the water again. I decided to go to the dock and have a few casts and to my surprise I was having a ton of action with smaller Jacks. After about 20 minutes the action slowed and I started catching walleye although not as active as the jacks. Suddenly it went quiet for about 5 minutes and I cast about 10 times in the same spot as far out as I could cast. Thinking the action was done I was thinking about going back to the boat when suddenly I felt like I snagged a log. It was heavy to reel in and suddenly my line came alive. She ripped line out of my reel and I knew it had to be a good sized fish. I managed to bring it in close enough to see it and the dock came alive with excitement. It ripped line again and we prepared the net to assure ourselves the catch. My brother reached into the water with the net and we knew we had one try as we saw two of the hooks in the treble were straight and the third was barely in his lip. As the fish was tired I got him close enough that my brother scooped the net and fish onto the dock because it was too big for the net. It immediately cane off the hook and started to flap around on the dock. My brother threw his body on the fish and ended up with fish slime from his cheek to his shins! What a great moment and even greater memory.

The Moose Lake Walleye Classic is held each year at the end of June, and the lake is a great spot for family fishing. While not exceptionally deep, the lake has some varied shoreline and steep drop-offs. Moose Lake is also home to burbot, whitefish, pike, and perch. Catch limits and certain regulations are specific to Moose Lake. Please be sure to familiarize yourself with limits and closures before heading out. LAKE ACCESS Moose Lake lies northwest of Bonnyville. From the town, follow Hwy. 41 north for five kilometres. Then turn left on Secondary Hwy. 660 and continue for another 10 km. At this point, a side road leading to Moose Lake Provincial Park appears on the left side of the road. Follow this road for about two kilometres until it reaches the park. The campground has 52 sites, a boat launch, and a pier.

Moose Lake Alberta. Fishing on a private dock near pelican narrows. Biggest ish I've caught in my life and the funny part was that it came from rock fishing and not in my fancy boat. Just a cool early summer day and my first out since my dad had passed away. There were many fish that day but I remember thinking I wonder if dad could see me and remember all the times he took me fishing and reminiscing all the times I took him fishing through his sickness. He had parted about two weeks prior and getting away was something I felt guilty in doing but thought it would clear my mind. I am thankful because I think he sent me this gift. My brother took the picture and helped me save the fish from jumping off the dock as he was too big to fit in my big fishing net and had to scoop him onto the dock. We went from many like to a few walleye and then it began to drizzle rain and the action seemed to stop for about 10 minutes and then this big beast exploded the lake and the next ten minutes were the best and happiest I have experienced. I would never give up fishing for the world. Northern pike 20.4 lbs 44" long.
