Well, it’s a new year and ice fishing in Alberta is in full swing. There are a lot of lakes close to Edmonton that are very productive in the wintertime. Here are just a few! https://www.anglersatlas.com/blog/top-5-ice-fishing-spots-in-the-edmonton-area

Hope Lake

I have been going to this lake for over 30 years and have had some tremendous perch and walleye fishing. Lots of big jacks as well. Very clean lake. Good road in now where as in the arly days, if you were in there and it rained hard, you would have a hard time getting out.

Hope Lake

I have been going to Hope Lake now for the past 10 years. It is a quiet little campground, with very little ammenities. There are about 50 small campsites. It is great for small units however I have seen quite a few larger units over the last years. It has good fishing if you enjoy catching Jackfish, There are perch but they are very small. If you enjoy riding there is access to great trails in the area, you can go for miles. The campsite itself has gated access with a caretaker, there is a covered kitchen area for those special occassions. There are two water pumps onsite but no electricity or dumping station. The closest dumping station is in Boyle. A great place for families, there is also a noise curfew in effect and inforced.
