Northwind Blue Walleye (Guide: Pasha Lake Cabins)
Blue Walleye = 28.5in

Beatty - Huge Pike (06.11.09)
Ontario Pike - 6.11.09 by Pasha Lake on 06/11/2009 We headed out again today in search of Monster Pike and weren't disappointed! Again, we were able to target the big females as they are in recovery mode, post spawn. The big fish weren't as concentrated today, however a couple of variables might have played into today's bite. We are in the middle of a cool down, and as the day worn on, things became cloudy, windy and a bit chilly. I also noted water temps have increased a couple of degrees from 48 to 49 to 50 to 52. Despite the weather changes, we were still able to boat 5 - 6 pike over 40 inches, the biggest a hair over 45 inches. I was able to contribute to the big fish board with my two pike, one 41 inches and the other just under 44 inches. I had to troll a bit farther today, however I stuck with one presentation that worked extremely well. The orange backed, gold bellied, Blue Fox #2 Minnow Bait landed me a nice variety of eaters in addition to the two trophies. The other variable that has been present in the last two outings is sucker fish. I am not up to speed on when they spawn, however, they are up close and personal with the big pike, which, to me, would seem a risky cohabitation. It was a nice tell, where we saw sucker fish, we caught pike. 41"er ended the day as the weather turnedTrolling and casting worked well today. Trolling seemed to land more eaters in addition to the big pike. Until next time. Northwind Lake 0 06.01.09
The Dan Harms group currently staying in Cabin #5, took advantage of the IDO promotion and landed this beautiful 28.5in Blue Walleye. Tough Conditions WalleyeWalleye season in Ontario has been open for a full week now and it has been nothing short of a stealer season so far. Walleye are still being caught in large numbers in the rivers, especially at the base of rapids and slack water along fast moving current. In a short day of guiding last Sunday, on Northwind Lake we had a boat average of 60 plus walleye. Although the bigger females have been somewhat elusive, we have landed some respectable mid 20s. Males are still full of milk, though we are noticing it less and less as the days pass. River WalleyeLake walleye have also been very active. Water temperatures are ranging from a frothy 41 degrees to 48 degrees depending on where you are at in the lake. During early morning and mid day, walleyes are very active in the 45 to 30 feet of water. At night however, they come screaming up to the 8 to 12 feet of water, in large numbers and with one thing on their mind - FOOD! We were also treated to some respectable numbers of large JUMBO perch. Not surprising, they are schooled up very close to the walleye. I was brought back to my roots a couple of days ago while trying to pre fish a Northwind Lake in gale force winds. I was marking fish like crazy, however a 14ft boat with a 50lbs black lab and a 165lbs guy doesn't match up well against 3 ft waves. Some would say I am insane, but most guys reading this wouldn't hesitate to do the same thing. Anyway, I was reminded of my early years fishing Mille Lacs, without the aid of today's electronics. Back then, we fished an area, with little specificity. Boat control in the wind was impossible and I was really struggling to land fish trying to be to pinpointed. After an hour of banging my head against the wall, I reassessed and started fishing the area, not the fish. It didn't take long to start landing them - Lesson Learned! Onaman Lake Fishing Report - 6.11.09
Ontario - Walleye Report by Pasha Lake on 06/04/2009 Onaman Walleye - 06.02.0970 or more walleyes 20â or better, average 24â The above is not a typo. On June 1st, Onaman Lake opened its angling season. The lake was deemed a fish sanctuary several years ago and thus fell under Ontarioâs unique angling regulations. In fact, the lake is such a prolific walleye lake, it was used many years ago as the primary supplier for stocking many of the area lakes. Those lakes today are still thriving with impressive stocks of walleye. With an early close and late opening, Onaman lake is the apple in everyoneâs eye and itâs June 1st opening is highly anticipated by many of the regulars to the Pasha Lake Region of Ontario. Now, if you are a fisherman, by our very nature we are known to stretch the truth. Therefore I am very guarded with the details I am able to submit in my report. Here is what I can tell you with 100% certainty. Since itâs June 1st opening, we have had several groups fish Onaman Lake. There has been a minimum of two walleyes 30â or better landed and released. The Joe H. group from Toronto, that group alone, landed over 70 walleye on June 2nd and they estimated their average fish to be 24â. There are several occasions where they reported having triples even quadruples while jig fishing certain points. A member or Joeâs group, Muhammad C. is an avid, I mean AVID walleye angler, not to mention he has fished all over the world. His tackle box makes the Cabelaâs tackle shop look like amateur hour. Yesterday, his exact words to me were âThis is the most amazing and abundant walleye fishery in the worldâ. So letâs put that into prospect for second. Say Joeâs group was a little liberal in their estimates and the landed only 50 fish. And maybe, because they were catching so many, they couldnât measure every fish and a more accurate average is 22â. Does it really matter? My guess is, probably not. And, if it were just Joeâs group, I might be skeptical. However my personal experiences augmented by other groups reporting similar findings, tell me that Joeâs account of his experiences, backed up by his pictures, are right on the mark! Until next time⦠Update: 6.12.09 - I guided on Onaman yesterday and fortunately we were able to find some smaller fish in addition to the 24 inch fish we were landing all day. Fishing remains very good near rock islands and in small holes of 17ft or better. If you are interest in fishing Onaman Lake, please contact us at 866 333 5943 or [email protected] Thanks
