Hmmm. Suspicious

The main access to this lake has been fenced off, leaving only the very rough access referenced by the previous poster. As the main access is a logging road, it is completely inappropriate for this to be blocked. Strange that a complaint to the Ministry of Forests was met with a shrug and the guy literally said "We've decided not to press our rights in this case." Then the lake gets stocked? *cynical laugh* Welcome to BC. I guess this means the guy with the fence is a senior bureaucrat, because I know just how quickly MoF or Lands and Parks would be on you or I if we illegally gated a road.

Stocked! June 5th, 2013

Taylor Lake near Oliver, BC was recently stocked with 500 fingerling rainbow trout by the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC. For more information on this stocking, visit: http://www.gofishbc.com/fish-stocking-reports/recent-fish-releases/ReportOutputResult.aspx?StockSpecies=all&StockStrains=all&StockGenotypes=all&FishStages=all&Town=OLIVER&WaterBodyID=01335SIML&DateFrom=6/8/2008&DateTo=6/7/2013 As always, the road into Taylor is best traveled with an ATV, motorbike, or on foot. The road is extremely rough and washed out in places, with the occasional deadfall over the road needing to be cut or at least lifted out of the way by a buddy as you drive through. If you take your truck or 4x4 expect your paint job to never be the same! Pine and spruce have grown in considerably, giving it a Narnia-esque feel as you rumble up the goat trail. You'll be rewarded with solitude and an interesting belly boat experience if you make the trek. The lake is small and easily worked in an afternoon or day with a belly boat, and ample vegetation surround, providing consistent insect hatches throughout the spring and summer. There's a small campsite with a picnic table and you can expect to have the site to yourself. For more information about the Freshwater Fisheries Society and stocking reports, visit gofishbc.com
