About Struthers Lake
Struthers Lake is a nice little spot for walleye and pike. During the open water season, pike can be quite large, and ice fishing for walleye can be just as exciting. Struthers Lake is ideal for pike. The gradual shoreline makes it great habitat, as pike prefer the shallow areas. Pike are stealthy predators, and they will hold in the shallows, waiting among the weeds for their prey. They are not fussy eaters, and have a reputation of attacking anything that moves. This can make them fairly easy to lure. Their size and feistiness make them exciting to reel in. They have razor sharp teeth, and can cut through light fishing line in no time. Make sure your equipment is up to the challenge!
Walleye are quite different, and catching them can require some planning. While they are often caught during the day, especially in the winter, if you’re fishing open water, they are more likely to be caught either early in the morning or later in the evening. Early in the spring, they too will tend to inhabit the shallow areas of the lake, and this can be some of the best fishing times for walleye. As the summer progresses, they will move to deeper areas
Trolling crank baits and jigging are effective methods for catching walleye.
