-we had alot of smelts disappearing from our tip ups that day. Our under water camera was being bumped continuously but no fish seemed to swim by? To our surprise we watched a muskrat quickly swim up to our bait, sink kits teeth in and gave it’s head a good shake.. this reminded me of a dog killing a squirrel. Unfortunately for us he was caught by the hook and fortunately for him this is a barbless lake! We where able to release him back into the lake unharmed. I have to say I’ve never heard of this and was a memorable moment on the ice.
