A beautiful morning out on the Credit River, made even better by a healthy Great Lakes Chinook on the fly.

Who knew that such a productive fishery could be located so close to the heart of big city like Mississauga. The photo was taken close to my parents house nearby the river. This beast of a Chinook took the Woolly Bugger like something out of a horror movie and then instantly bolted downstream and braced itself in the current. My TFO BVK fly rod had never seen a fish this big. I also started worrying about how well I had tied my knots when I had arrived at the Credit River earlier that day. But the knots held and I pressured the fish as much as I possibly could on 10 lb tippet. When it tired, I got ready to tail it. Solitude has always been one of the biggest draws in fishing, but this time I wished I wasn't fishing solo for fear of losing this beauty. And my fears were nearly confirmed as soon as I reached down to tail it. The fish gave a quick kick upstream and darted between my legs, tangling the line around my leg and running downstream again. My father arrived just in time to catch this on video, and it is good for a laugh every time we watch it. After another short battle the fish was landed and quickly released to continue upriver and spawn. TFO BVK 8wt
