Birthday Sturgeon Fishing... My wife surprised me with a 1/2 day of kayak river sturgeon fishing for my Birthday - was lucky enough to catch my first Sturgeon this day!
I heard of these Giant Northerns at Shining Tree Lake, and had no luck fishing 3 days straight. Then one morning while everyone was sleeping still, I decided to equip my reel with new line, put on my heaviest lure, and went to the dock to test my knots. First cast as far as I could cast it, it hits the water, and I pull back thinking "Great, landed in the weeds" luckily that set the hook, and 5 seconds later this Monster jumps out of the water! My heart raced as I yelled to my brother to get the net! Landed this 9.5lbs 36 inch Northern Pike - Largest I've ever caught!
