Sturgeon caught and released...
Sturgeon caught and released on the Fraser River Fall 2016 My dad and I go fishing for father’s day every year. Last year I moved to Maple ridge and excited about the many opportunities and we decided to take a tour boat on the river. It was an eventful day and the guide said I had one of the biggest fish on the line possibly over 10 feet… and then lost it. I was determined to get that big fish again. I don’t own a boat so shore fishing would have to be the answer. I spend many hours shore fishing on the Fraser River after that day. I did think that I would be able to get anything big from the shore. This particularly long day after 12 hours of uninterrupted fishing I was convinced that it would be today I would catch the big one. My girlfriend was patient and forwent her lunch and later dinner to feed my thrust for victory. Then it happened I caught the fish. A rough estimation of this fish is it was over 6 feet long many minutes were entangled together with a marvelous struggle and it came down to determination and perseverance… I won. Camera in hand, my girlfriend took the picture. I had and will continue to have such a respect and admiration for this ancient creature. After a grand day I gently released this creature — till we meet again.

I live to fish … 60 pound...
I live to fish … 60 pound halibut caught off the coast near Sooke, Vancouver Island A gorgeous June day on the Pacific Ocean is where I caught my first halibut. Returning to the island brings many fishing trips, that are ingrained in my memory. My friend and I leave at the wee hours in anticipation of a successful day, but none would be as memorable as this day. When I first got the tug on my line, I felt a rush of excitement that sent an unexplainable energy through my body. Winning the battle between fish and man, I am grateful for the day.
