Pedder Bay - Victoria BC An early morning start proved fruitful on the first day of spring break with my son Risto (pictured) . Just outside of Pedder Bay , fishing deep for chinooks we managed to get into a double header and were lucky after some organized chaos to land both fish. A great learning experience for him and a great opportunity to tell stories for me when I went back to work the next week.

It was our first time fishing at Schoen Lake. We struggled the first day but met a long time, local fisherman who graciously tipped us off to fish the drop offs at 50ft. We dropped the lines and had the first fish in the boat in 10 minutes. We kept 2 fish for dinner but released another half dozen lunkers over the course of the morning. I appreciated the local knowledge and the class of the local fisherman we met who clearly wanted my boys to catch some fish and have a good time with their Dad...that's the spirit of fishing!
