Slow morning on the bay until my eleven year old put on a smelt stick, tipped with a minnow. The minute he lowered it down, he got this beauty.

He landed it himself and it...
He landed it himself and it was quite a fight!

Great Lake Trout for a teen to land on his own! He wanted a photo for bragging rights before releasing it.

Got this beauty fishing off the dock while waiting for our table at the restaurant to be available.

Her first ever fish. Ever...
It was her first fish ever caught. Ever since then she's been hooked!

After a long and rough ride,...
After a long and rough ride, approximately one hour out, we decided to start fishing with minnows. For a good hour or so we got nothing, then suddenly we hit on a BIG school of jumbos and my little guy Henry landed this beauty. Suffice to say that we had a great fish fry that evening!

It was a tough winter to find...
It was a tough winter to find weather decent enough to ice fish. It was often too warm, and on the day that we were finally able to go, it was -30C! After waking up at 4:30 A.M., driving a couple of hours, and braving the windy, biting cold to get out on the lake, our day of fishing finally began! It was slow and for the better part of the morning, we thought we were going to go home empty handed. One of my boys finally said, "Dad...use the Rippin' Rap and call them in!" I decided at this point that I would be the one to attract, while my boys would fish, and it paid off! My boys were able to land a good handful of beauties and it amounted to enough fish for a good fry. Shown so clearly in the photo, my boys are fishing fanatics, and as you can see, their future wives are not their first kiss!

My kids and I were camping at...
My kids and I were camping at Killbear Provincial Park when we decided after a long day basking in the sun, that we would go to get some fish and chips at a local restaurant. At the restaurant, the waitress told us it would be a at least 45 min. until a table opened up. My kids were becoming bored and began to get themselves into everything they should not have been getting into, and in order to get them out of my wife's hair, I decided to take the kids down to the dock behind the restaurant. To our absolute delight we noticed some kids catching sunfish and small Rock Bass and wouldn't you know it, I just happened to pack our rods in the trunk of the car. After the kids had caught some small Bass, I decided to put a Gulp Alive Minnow on my hook and cast out into the middle of the inlet and just like that...BAM! A jumping, feisty beast of a Smallmouth took my line and fought with every ounce of energy it could muster, until after what seemed like an hour, (fisherman's story timeline) I was able to land it and get this beauty of a picture. Although it may end up a few inches bigger when verbally telling the story, I was so thankful that someone on the dock offered to take my photo. Since then my kids and I go for fish and chips every time we are there, and we've had some great days where we caught a handful of nice sized Bass. I can't describe how fortunate I am to be able to share these experiences with my kids and pass on the tradition of a great fishing adventure to future generations!
