Too high for fishing today

This is normally one of the best spots on the river for steelhead fishing but in this photo the spot where we fish from is under 20ft of water

Halibut surprise

I caught this 46lb halibut on a 9wt. fly rod.The outside waters were too rough that day so we fished for salmon in the protected waters of Barkley sound. Most salmon are in the teens in June,so I was trolling with my fly rod using an anchovy and a 7ft. leader. We were in 66ft.of water when it hit. What a fight! What a bonus! p.s. I landed a 75lb halibut the next day offshore using proper halibut gear but this 46lb was way more fun.

Nice trout

This nice rainbow measured 24" and was approx. 5lbs.It was caught on a worm still fished on bottom (with second rod)while casting a point for bass.Nice bonus! It wasn't til my dragged screamed and my rod heaved over that I realized it was a good fish.It then leaped out of the water doing a double cartwheel only 10' from my boat. This lake primarily is fished for its trout ,rather than bass by most anglers.I have been quite succesful fly fishing here using leech patterns as well as wooly buggers. This lake has good access but there is a NO motor restriction.(including no electric)so you have to exercise (not a bad idea anyways)to fish.Since there are many arms and bays ,you can always find somewhere to fish.

finally

My buddy & I spotted this fish and proceeded to hook and loose it 3 times before finally landing it.Caught early June on a berkley power worm. This lake produces many large bass with the average about 18".Working the shorline is the most productive.Topwater baits also work very well and considering the amount of woody debris along the shore,it saves on snags.
