Small char taken at Binta Lake in June 2008

Binta Beaver
Not often you'll catch a beaver out of the water like this...j.dipalo

Our annual trek to Binta
There are a gazillion lakes in the Districts Lakes area and my brother and I have settled on Binta after a whirlwind week of chasing down many hard drives to other lakes in the area several years ago. We have been coming here for the last four or five years now. The reason being, you may only have one to two weeks available and being that this is a fourteen hour trek from home we need to make the best that any lake has to offer. Our criteria of solitude, wilderness, scenery, wildlife, sunrise to sunset rainbow trout catch and release action, with possibilities of the larger char available has kept us coming to this fine lake. Excellent for fly fishing, or trolling, with superb fighting rainbows. These fish are fast, they hit like a ton of bricks, and then you think you've lost them, and then their on again, off again, on again...wow. These fighters jump like crazy and on accasion I have counted to twelve consecutive full jumps clearing the water attempting to shake the hook. We have only fished this lake the first few weeks in June and it does not dissappoint. One cold rainy windy day we decided to tie to a dead head about 100 feet from shore and never missed a beat catching fish from one spot for the rest of the day most often with two fish on at the same time. You must also be aware of sudden thunderous storms that can roll in very quickly. Ensure your outboard motors are running well, and you are ready for any emergency as you may be the only boat on the lake with no other help around. There are many bald and some golden eagles, and osprey in the area allowing for many photo opportunities of these magnificent birds. We have seen moose come down and thrash through some shorelines. Otters, beavers, loons, pesky mice building nests under the hood, bears sniffing around, songbirds and other wildlife always keeping things interesting. Always a good holiday....j.dipalo
Check Under My Tail
I have many challenging photos yet to take of this magnificent fisherman and thought your readers may enjoy this photo also taken at Binta Lake in June 2008....j.dipalo

Natural Angler
Captured this bald eagle on Binta Lake taking his catch while fishing in June 2008. I enjoy photographing the eagles, loons, otters, beavers, moose and songbirds while fishing sometimes gets in the way. I'll grab for the camera and then zingggg, I'll have to grab for the rod. .... j.dipalo
