Sometimes we are of the mindset that we need to travel to the farthest point of the lake away from the launch location! This awesome smallmouth( my favorite) was hiding under my neighbors boat dock. Just for fun, I skipped my worm under the dock and wham! Look how pretty this fish is! It did a couple of acrobatic leaps, fought like a demon, and was landed carefully and released. A real beautiful fish!

Not a bad first fish! My friend had never had that experience, and we were expecting a few walleyes for dinner! A good fight and a very happy new angler!

It is well documented that Lake of the Woods may be the most diverse, and prolific multi species freshwater lake in the world! This musky came near the end of the fishing day, while we were trolling crankbaits for walleye and managed to land this monster! It was a long fight, but once caught and photographed, this fish was released successfully to fight another day!

Our target fish was a muskellunge and our pattern was to fish cabbage beds in shallow water with big, bucktail spinners. I laughed in silence when my customer was rummaging through his tackle bag and presto, in his hand was the most hideous, gaudy looking bait I had ever seen in 52 years at Lake of the Woods! The pink( Bubblegum), Blue, and Chartreus bucktail was tossed about 40 feet and skittered just below the surface, and just above the cabbage. What we witnessed next was incredible, the mammoth beast chased that thing down, opened its mouth and inhaled it! The minute or so (seemed Like eternity) battle resulted in landing this hog, only to be released for the next angler. I cant recall the length, but guessing about 42 inches! Too cool!
