Throughout the year, perch can be found in a multitude of different water depths ranging from 4-20' of water, later spring perch can be found in shallower waters close to shore feeding on mayfly's and Emerald shinners. Throughout the summer, perch crusie the 10-20' range in search of baitfish and towards the fall the enter shallower waters again to feed. During winter, perch are everywhere and they are hungry! Locala like to use mainly baitfish to catch perch (Emerald |shiners and Spot-tail Shiners) but many anglers drop shot small plastic artificial or use them under floats in canals and marinas like you would for crappies in the spring
