Female bull trout from a shallow and narrow Cypress Creek, northeastern BC in late October. This spot is about 50 kms off the highway along back roads and a goat trail through a farmer's field. When we seen this bridge we thought we were looking at a mirage. I thought I was lucky when I quickly landed a one pound rainbow. Was I ever in for a surprise! Within a few minutes this big girl was on the end of the line. A net was not available so my friend held the rod while I splashed into the water and grabbed her with my bare hands (you may notice my boots are wet). I still find it hard to believe a fish that big lives in a creek so small. I was still wearing all my fire resistant work gear after a short day on the oil patch.
