Information on Rusty Crayfish

Rusty crayfish tend to be larger than native species. This aquatic invasive species gets its name from the rust-coloured patches that run down its sides, but not always - Reddish-brown to olive with long antennae, The rostrum (extension between their eyes) is distinctively concave and they also have bumps on the sides of the carapace and claws. They have large broad flattened claws and when the claws are closed, there is an oval gap between them. They often have dark specs and reddish-orange tips; claws and legs may also appear blue. They will reach a size up to 13 cm.
