Atlantic Stingray

Atlantic Stingray are relatively small stingrays, reaching 12-14 inches in width. They are brown to yellowish-brown in colour with lighter white undersides, and have pointed snouts. Atlantic Stingray can be found in warm waters in estuaries and along the coast of the western Atlantic Ocean, from Chesapeake Bay, USA, south to Florida, USA, as well as along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico to Campeche, Mexico. They primarily feed on benthic invertebrates, such as crustaceans, worms, and clams. Atlantic Stingray are not aggressive, but will use their venomous tail spines for defence.
