Atlantic Needlefish

Atlantic Needlefish are silvery in colour with darker backs and have long, narrow bodies. Their jaws are proportionally long and contain many small, sharp teeth. They are found along the western coast of the Atlantic Ocean, from the U.S. state of Maine southward along the Gulf of Mexico to Brazil. Atlantic Needlefish commonly reach 60 cm (24 in) in length, but specimens measuring up to 111 cm (44 in) have been recorded. They are active predators and primarily feed on small fish.
