Arctic Grayling
The Arctic Grayling is distributed along drainages of the Arctic Ocean, including northern Canada, Alaska, Russia, northern Europe, and Hudson Bay. Their preferred habitat is cold, clear, well-oxygenated streams, rivers, and lakes with rocky or cobble substrates. The Arctic Grayling has a large dorsal fin with many soft rays and a dark midlateral band between the pectoral and pelvic fins. Spawning takes place in the spring, in shallow rivers with fine or sandy substrate, where eggs are left to mix with the substrate. Their diet consists of aquatic and terrestrial insects, fish eggs, and crustaceans. Source: Government of Alberta (https://www.alberta.ca/arctic-grayling)
