Albacore Tuna

Albacore Tuna are found in temperate and tropical oceans worldwide, including the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. They are a highly migratory, pelagic species that inhabit open ocean waters and often travel in schools. Albacore Tuna primarily feed on fish, squid, and crustaceans.Albacore Tuna commonly reach lengths of 90–120 cm (35–47 in), with some individuals growing larger. Key identifiers include their long pectoral fins, which can extend past the second dorsal fin, and their metallic blue back with silver-white sides. Albacore are often marketed as “white tuna” due to their lighter-colored flesh compared to other tuna species. Anglers and commercial fishers catch albacore using trolling methods with lures or bait, as well as longline gear. Source: FishBase (https://www.fishbase.se/summary/Thunnus-alalunga.html)
