Tachick and Nulki Lakes are only twenty minutes from town and are very productive waters. Tachick Lake Resort offers a boat launch and worms, along with great accommodations.
Knewstubb Lake is part of the Nechako Reservoir, south of Vanderhoof. This large inland reservoir has been referred to as a "sea of lakes". Be part of the action around Nechako Lodge near Kenney Dam, or get away from it all further down the lake. Rainbow trout and kokanee can be found there, by fly or by lure. The areas south of Vanderhoof make for memorable fishing experiences. Cicuta Lake, Hobson, Finger and Lavoie Lakes are some of the best trout fishing in the province. Full service facilities on Finger Lake provide a great base camp for fishing with the family, or heading out on an adventure to explore the other trophy lakes in the area.

The White Sturgeon Recovery Initiative was created to understand the reasons why white sturgeon are no longer successfully spawning and surviving in the Nechako watershed.
