Who Say's You Need A Boat??

Hi all. !! when i first moved to the peace region,i didn’t have a boat. so it really got me thinking as to whether it was possible to fish this lake strickly from the shore line, using a method that i had named THE POPPER . !! Which was quite simply just taking foam ear plugs. (about 12 at a time ) and feeding them onto a single piece of fishing line,using a medium sized needle leaving a little bit of space between each one. Then. i went to my local hardware store, and purchased a can of flouresent orange spray paint.I sprayed a coat of paint on all of the ear plugs. let them dry. then repeated this about 3-4 times allowing enough time for each coat of paint to dry.Then i would just keep them on the fishing line until i needed one.(it kept them neat and tidy) I alway’s kept them in a seperate container in my tackle, along with the needle the best way i found for these to work was to take the needle. feed your line from the rod thru the needle and then feed the needle thru the ear plug. Then add a small bead. (whatever colour you preffer)then tie your hook to your line. Add a small snap swivel about 14" above your hook by just feeding the line thru the swivel eyelet in a half hitch. Depending on current speed add a Tear-drop weight. approx. 1/8 ounce to the snap swivel, the snap swivel gives you the option to change the weight size at your leisure.Bait the hook with a small peice of shrimp. then cast it out . and just take the slack out of your line. and prop the rod on a stick . and let it sit.I managed to catch a 10 lb plus rainbow from shore using this method. I found it inexspensive. and I use this same rig in all our river’s and streams and lakes. ALL just from shore!! It is very important to be sure and paint the earplugs, or they will just get water logged and sink to the bottom.This method made it possible for alot of my friends and family to be able to take part in the sport of fishing while at the same time . eliminated the need to have a boat. !! I also have many elderly friends, who now are elated. !! that they can sit a chair on the shore. relax and enjoy their outing without the problems that would normally come with fishing from a small boat,I hope that this little tip will help fisher persons of ALL ages to be able to get out into our great outdoors. and enjoy a little fishing as well as the Beautiful scenery that we are blessed with . here in the peace country. !!
