Please tell me you didn’t kill this beautiful fish it was likely older than you! There are so few of these huge fish left in Muncho, indeed they were alwyas rare, that removing even one of them has a strong and detrimental effect on the tiny population of such fish in Muncho Lake. Fish grow extremely slowly in the frigid Muncho Lake waters and taxidermists have pegged the age of the largest fish at over a century. It is no mystery that the record fish were taken from Muncho decades ago before sport fishers were enlightened to the ways of conservation. Times have changed and we have learned the consequences of our actions in the past. Enjoy the thrill of the catch, take pictures for bragging rights but please release these precious beauties so that they might survive and contribute their extraordinary genes to the pool. Muncho Lake is the Emerald Gem of the Alaska Highway. Revel in its beauty and do all you can to preserve and protect the rare and delicate balance of the ecosystem. Happy Fishing. Stephen Nishio
