Fire Bans/Advisories IN EFFECT. http://www.countybarrhead.ab.ca/services_news.shtml TOTAL FIRE BAN Effective APRIL 20, 2010 the County of Barrhead has issued a total burning ban. NO FIRE PERMITS will be issued and ALL EXISTING FIRE PERMITS ARE SUSPENDED. Any fires currently burning must be extinguished immediately. This fire ban covers all open fires, including campfires, fires used for cooking and warming, fireworks, charcoal briquette barbeques and all burning barrels. Please monitor extinguished fires in case of "holdover" fires that could reignite due to dry conditions - particularly in peat soils. The County of Barrhead No. 11 urges everyone to use extreme caution if you are using an ATV. Ensure that they are clean and free of debris and be mindful of sparks from the exhaust. Smoldering debris can fall off the ATV and start fires. ATV's should be equipped with appropriate spark arrestors. Exercise extreme caution when discarding matches and cigarette ashes and butts. Costs incurred for fire suppression are the responsibility of the landowner. The County is not liable for expenses incurred to fight a fire.
